Meghan Markle allegedly broke out into a “fit of rage” during a row over the colour of blankets, reports have claimed.

A reported former senior Royal aide also claims tensions caused by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex meant “half the staff threatened to quit”.

Meghan and Prince Harry get their chance to respond to critics on Sunday night US time when their interview with TV legend Oprah Winfrey airs on America’s CBS channel, and on ITV on Monday UK time.

It was alleged the Duchess saw red because her blankets were “the wrong shade of red”, reports The SundayTimes.

It comes after Meghan was accused of bullying Palace staff, allegations the Duchess vehemently denies.

The Palace later released a statement saying it was “very concerned” about the claims and would be probing them.

A separate Royal source told the paper: “The entire household was on the verge of quitting … it was drama, drama, drama with those two.”

The source claimed the Duchess had ordered each guest embroidered red blankets for a shooting party at Sandringham for Harry’s friends.

It was alleged she “went mental” at former personal assistant Melissa Touabti because they “weren’t the right shade of red” – leaving the former PA “traumatised”.

Another source previously told The Telegraph even Harry was told off by Her Majesty the Queen after his wife crossed swords with a Royal dresser over Meghan’s tiara.

They said: “Angela told Harry it was priceless and couldn’t suddenly be handed over at short notice. He was furious and shouted: ‘What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.’ Suffice to say it didn’t go down too well.”

The insider added: “They insisted that they had the same inflation-adjusted budget for the wedding as William and Kate – she got the choir she wanted, the dress, the carriage procession, the tiara – she got everything she wanted but it still wasn’t enough.

“She was constantly looking for reasons to say she had been deprived. Also, she wanted drama from the very beginning.”

No advance copies of the interview with Winfrey have been released to the Palace, so Royals will have to sit down with the rest of the nation to see what the couple has to say.

In response to the bullying allegations, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess said: “The duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.

“She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good.”

They added: “Let’s just call this what it is – a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation. We are disappointed to see this defamatory portrayal of The Duchess of Sussex given credibility by a media outlet. It’s no coincidence that distorted several-year-old accusations aimed at undermining The Duchess are being briefed to the British media shortly before she and The Duke are due to speak openly and honestly about their experience of recent years.”

Buckingham Palace and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been approached by the Daily Star for comment.

The programme will be aired at 9pm on ITV on Monday night.
