Beloved DJ found dead in studio moments after finishing his show

A popular radio presenter was tragically found dead at his studio moments after completing a show.

Mike James, 62, suffered a “medical episode” at Dee Radio studios in Chantry Court, Chester, on Saturday, January 30.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 6.13pm after a colleague discovered his body, Cheshire Live reports.

Mike, who had worked at the station for more than 15 years, was described as an “outstanding broadcaster and a good friend”.

He presented the Saturday Sport Show, and had 2-6pm slot at Dee Radio.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended the scene and found that a 62-year-old man had died.

“The man is believed to have suffered from a medical episode and his death is not believed to be suspicious, a case file will now be prepared for the coroner.”

Programme Director Phil Rodgers said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to hear this tragic news.

“Mike was an outstanding broadcaster and a good friend to everyone here at Chester’s Dee Radio as well as a popular presenter amongst our listeners.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”

Mike’s family have been informed and are currently being supported.

Devastated listeners also paid tribute to Mike on social media.

One wrote: “So sorry to hear this I really enjoyed his shows. RIP Mike you will be missed.”

Another said: “Met and spoke to Mike on numerous occasions, great guy, good singer, just a really nice bloke. RIP mate.”

A third added: “RIP Mike such a funny man loved his shows he will be sadly missed.”
