A man built his ex-girlfriend her own island in a failed bid to try and win her back.
The 30-year-old Chinese bloke, known only by his last name Xu, used all of his savings for the extravagant and romantic stunt.
While the gesture failed to win back the heart of his former lover, it has now become a magnet for other couples looking for a romantic place to meet.
The popular tourist attraction is in Hetou village, Yingde city, in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong.
The couple called it quits after Xu moved to the countryside to take care of his elderly parents while his girlfriend stayed in the city.
But heartbroken Xu spent more than a hundred thousand yuan (£11,000) on the magical makeover of a tiny deserted island, hiring a team to build an arch bridge that leads to a romantic spot
The romance island covers an area of just 20 to 30 metres and is entirely covered with pink vegetation, including pink grass and the blossoming peach and cherry trees.
These are a symbol of love in Chinese culture and there is also a swing in the middle of the island.
Xu completed the project in January but his ex-girlfriend told him: “Thank you for your sincere dedication. You will find someone better than me.”
The unlucky in love man puts his grand gesture down to his star sign, saying: “I am a Pisces so I am a romantic person.”
Despite the fact the island failed in its original purpose, it has succeeded in becoming a popular romantic spot for other couples, who have been using it for marriage proposals and even wedding photoshoots.
