BPKH RI and NU Care – Lazisnu Synergize to Help Residents Affected by Cyclone Hurricane NTT

Telegraf – Through the Benefit Program, the Indonesian Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) and NU Care-LAZISNU distributed aid to residents affected by the Seroja tropical cyclone disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which occurred on April 4, 2021.

The assistance was distributed in the form of public kitchens and distribution of fast food for sahur and iftar for residents in three areas, namely, Kupang Regency, Kupang City, and Ende Regency. The Head of the BPKH and NU Care-LAZISNU Partnership Program, Muhammad Wahib, revealed that NU Care-LAZISNU is committed to being right on target in distributing funds for the benefit of the people from BPKH.

The funds, said Wahib, will be channeled mainly to areas that have not been touched by aid. “NU Care-LAZISNU handles the distribution of fast food aid, which is given at dawn and breaking the fast for seven consecutive days with a total of 11,200 beneficiaries. We also have a network of Disaster Preparedness Santri Volunteers in distributing aid in NTT,” said Wahib, Wednesday (28/4).

Rahmat Hidayat, a member of the BPKH Implementing Agency for the Secretariat of the Agency and the Welfare Affairs, said that his party was sorry for the disaster that hit residents in NTT. BPKH, he continued, continued to strive to be right on target in distributing aid to people affected by disasters. “Although we cannot go directly to NTT, we hope that the assistance provided through NU Care-LAZISNU can relieve Muslim residents who practice fasting after being hit by the Seroja cyclone disaster,” said Rahmat.

He explained that the funds were distributed worth Rp. 200 million to 11,200 beneficiaries, which is expected to be able to touch disaster-affected residents who have not received assistance. “NU Care-LAZISNU has an extensive database, so we hope that residents who really need help can get help,” he added.

The aid that was distributed was warmly welcomed by the residents affected by the disaster in Kupang City. One of the beneficiaries, Ajhar Jowe, expressed his gratitude for the attention of BPKH and NU Care to Muslim residents in Kupang City who are fasting.

“I represent the beneficiaries in Kupang City to express my gratitude for the attention of BPKH and NU Care for Muslim residents in Kupang City who are fasting and affected by the Seroja cyclone disaster,” said Ajhar after receiving the assistance.

The distribution of fast food aid for sahur and breaking the fast is focused on, said Yayah Ruchyati as the BPKH and NU Care-LAZISNU Benefit Program Implementation Team. As reported by Tirto.id, the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Government recorded that 18 of the 22 districts / cities in the province were affected by the Seroja tropical cyclone natural disaster on last Sunday (4/4).

East Nusa Tenggara Province Disaster Emergency Response Task Force spokesperson Marius Ardu Jelamu detailed 18 regencies / cities affected by the Seroja tropical cyclone natural disaster, namely Kupang City, East Flores Regency, Malacca, Lembata, Ngada, West Sumba, Manggarai, East Sumba, Rote Ndao, Ende, Sabu Raijua, Alor, Kupang Regency.
