A man was repeatedly stabbed in his neck and chest while parked near a children’s play area.

The savage attack on a man in his 60s took place at around 4pm on Saturday afternoon.

The victim was rushed to the hospital from the scene in Maitland Street. His condition is not known.

According to Bedfordshire Today, a 21-year-old man was arrested and taken in for questioning by police this afternoon.

Officers believe it was “an isolated incident with no risk to the wider public.”

Detective Chief Inspector Marie Gresswell, investigating, said: “We believe this was an isolated incident with no risk to the wider public, and our officers remain on scene to give reassurance to residents and listen to any concerns they may have.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at that time and has any dashcam footage, CCTV, or information, which could help us in our investigation.”

On Twitter, Bedfordshire Police said: “A man has been arrested in connection with an incident in Bedford this afternoon (Saturday), in which a man was stabbed.

“At around 4pm, we were called to a report that a man had been stabbed as he sat in his car in Maitland Street.”

According to the BBC, another savage stabbing in Bedford took place in September last year.

The victim, who is in 20s, was found by officers with several stab wounds in Alexandra Road.

Two men, in their 40s and 20s, and a woman in her 30s, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as it was believed to be a targeted attack.
