Police are scrambling to the scene of a mass shooting inside a FedEx warehouse near Indianapolis International Airport.

Cops say that multiple people have been wounded and there are reports that four people have died, although fatalities have not yet been confirmed by the authorities.

Police have confirmed that there are ‘multiple victims at the scene’ following the shooting on Thursday night, (April 15) 11pm local time (4am GMT).

911 calls claim people heard shooting outside and inside the building, with workers hiding inside by the conveyor belt.

A worker at the scene told Wish-TV news:”I saw a man with a submachine gun of some sort, an automatic rifle, and he was firing in the open.”

They have been called to the south west side in the 8900 block of Mirabel Road, and the I-70 has been shut in both directions.

Authorities were reportedly heard declaring the incident as a ‘mass casualty, level 1’, which means there could be less than 10 surviving victims, as emergency responders raced to the scene.

The building has been evacuated following the shooting, local reports say.
