Gayle King, pal with Oprah Winfrey, claims she predicted Meghan Markle and Prince Harry leaving the Royal Family two years ago.

The CBS anchor says she knew they would seek their own way and step down as senior royals a year before they announced the decision themselves.

The 66-year-old has been looking into the Queen’s life and the future of The Firm for a TV special in the US.

The hour-long programme looked at the Queen’s “extraordinary life and reign” and reviewed “challenges, and controversies, romance and heartbreak”.

She claimed she predicted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanting to make their own way in life because they were seeking to live a less “traditional” life away from Buckingham Palace, writes The Mirror.

Gayle is known to be close to Meghan and Harry and has been a vocal supporter of the Sussexes.

She reportedly was close to the pair after their explosive Oprah Winfrey interview and said she spoke to Harry days after it was aired.

Gayle was also one of the select few people who had access to Archie after he was born in 2019, and after speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said the Sussexes could seek a new life after the arrival of their son.

“They’re still part of the Royal Family, they love being part of the Royal Family and all that comes with that, but I think it also gives them breathing room for things that aren’t traditional.

“Listen, nothing about their relationship is traditional, and I think that’s a great thing.”

Following the tell-all chat with Oprah, released earlier this year, it’s been said tensions have risen between Harry and brother Prince William and his father Charles.

Meghan spoke of the challenges she faced when she entered the royal household and claimed no one helped her transition into royal life.

Harry also suggested that his brother and father were ‘trapped’ in their duties but he had left with his family to the US.

Meghan and Harry announced their decision to step down as senior royals in March 2020 and moved to California with son Archie.

The pair are looking forward to welcoming a baby girl this summer.
