Google Maps appears to have caught a UK roadside brawl on camera to the amusement of thousands.
Two men were spotted throwing punches in images from the popular programme that lets users explore the streets of the world from the comfort of their own home.
Derbyshire-based Twitter user @samueldcfc brought the apparent quarrel to light in a post on Monday with four screenshots showing the situation at different points on the same street.
“As if I’ve just seen a scrap on google earth,” he wrote along with a crying emoji.
The two men can be seen on Parbroath Road in Glenrothes, Scotland, right next to a roundabout.
No one else is visible in the surrounding area while they square up to one another, fists in the air.
As the Google Street View car approaches the men where they stand, they can both be seen turning their heads to look at the vehicle before their “fight” begins in earnest.
One man appears to get the better of the other, with the dark-haired figure seeming to fall to the ground and cradling his head.
However, on close inspection of the images, both men seem to look in the direction of the passing car and smile (although with their faces blurred it’s hard to be sure).
The dark-haired man then gets to his feet and the other man seems to bend double as though he’s been hit in the stomach, although such a punch isn’t captured by the camera if it happened at all.
Once the car has moved down the street a little more, the pair can be seen standing close together and looking back at the vehicle, perhaps indicating the “scrap” was for the benefit of Google.
The tweet has proved popular with more than 3,000 likes, but several people seem sceptical about whether they’re looking at a genuine brawl or an attention-grabbing stunt.
“Staged that,” one Twitter user remarked, while another said: “The way he looks straight at the camera.”
It’s hardly the first time pedestrians have leapt into action when they spotted the distinctive Google Street View car, which methodically drives through areas to capture them for Google Maps.
Last month users spotted that some quick-thinking paving company workers had staged a grisly “axe murder” as the camera car drove past in Fenton.
Two “killers” look braced to strike again with their weapons as their “victim” lies spread-eagle on the ground next to the company van.
Their boss Paul Ingle said the staged murder was “just a bit of harmless fun”.
“The lads had spotted the Google camera car going past so when it came back down they quickly got in position to make it look like a murder was happening,” he told Stoke on Trent Live.
“I remember we got a bit of grief at the time saying the lads should have been working and not messing around but it only took a couple of seconds.
“I’m glad it’s given a few people a bit of a laugh – and it’s great free advertising!”
