A rapist has been jailed after staging a sick attack on a teenage girl, in which he plied his victim with alcohol before dragging her into his car.

Police said that 35-year-old Adam Malik then drove his victim to a house where he raped her twice.

Malik, who lived in Sheffield and goes by the nickname “Johnny”, was subsequently jailed for ten years for the first count of rape, and three years for the second.

He also received a three-month sentence for handling stolen goods.

Detective Chief Inspector Rob Platts from South Yorkshire Police said: “After an incredibly complex and protracted investigation, I am pleased with the jury’s verdicts and the sentence imposed.

“In this particular investigation, five men have previously been convicted for the parts they played in this victim’s exploitation between 2010 and 2012.”

Judge Michael Slater said that he held the victim in “utmost admiration and respect”.

Police confirmed that the victim was only 15 to 16 years old at the time of the repulsive attack.

Malik had been arrested in Amsterdam in October 2019, but authorities were unable to extradite him for a January trial at the time.

DCI Platts added: “Due to this, and then with the delays caused by Covid-19, the victim has had to wait until now to again recount incredibly traumatic incidents of sexual abuse and exploitation.

“Thankfully, this trial brings this investigation, which first launched in March 2017, to a conclusion.

“Hopefully now the victim can seek some closure following the horrific events that happened to her.

“I would like to both thank and commend the victim for her unwavering resilience and most of all bravery in continuing to support the prosecution to get the justice she very much deserves.”

Adam Malik received a 10-year prison sentence for the first count of rape, and three years for the second. He was also given a three-month sentence for handling stolen goods.

He will serve these sentences concurrently.

Malik was acquitted of one count of trafficking a child for the purposes of sexual exploitation.
