A man was filmed risking his life to save his boat as he rushed into a blazing boatyard in the middle of the River Thames.
The huge fire broke out at an industrial unit on Platt’s Eyot, an island in Hampton at 5pm on Monday, May 3.
Witnesses claimed to have heard explosions near the area and some said they saw people trying to rescue boats moored on the island.
In a video taken by a resident, the fire set off huge billows of smoke into the air and some boats caught fire on the water.
A man wearing a hoodie is seen walking on the dock and trying to reach to his boat, which is moored just metres away from the fire.

He starts wrangling the ropes before getting inside for refuge.
The cameraman says in the background: “James Bond, he’s going for a daring escape.”
The boat owner then carries on and jumps onto his blue boat and manages to move it away.
Sean Turner, who was there watching the boat rescue, told MyLondon: “So I was stood on the riverbank with one of my friends watching the fire. This guy walks right next to us and says that his boat was there.

“He then walked off, and a few minutes later we saw him appear on someone’s boat, heading towards his own vessel.
“He backed off a few times due to the heat and smoke but managed to untie the boat from its mooring and towed it to safety.”
London Fire Brigade sent 100 firefighters from 15 fire engines battled the flames and confirmed there were “some cylinders” involved.
They managed to put out the fire but the two Grade II listed boathouses were destroyed.
A spokesman for the emergency crew said: “Firefighters tackled a fire at two single-storey industrial units on the island, which were completely destroyed by the fire.

“The only access on to the island was via a footbridge, therefore firefighters have carried all of their equipment to the scene by hand.
“A number of gas cylinders were involved in the fire, they were cooled and removed by firefighters as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
“Some of the nearby boats have been moved from the area as a precaution.
“One man has been treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.”
The fire was under control at 8.29pm and the team will investigate the cause of the fire.
