An aircraft has crashed after taking off from Nellis Air Force Base in the Las Vegas valley.
The aircraft crashed at around 2.30pm with local residents describing hearing a loud noise.
The air force base Tweeted: “A contractor-operated aircraft that took off from Nellis Air Force Base crashed at approximately 2:30 p.m. May 24 outside the southern edge of the base.”
Emergency services are currently at the scene but it has not been confirmed if there are any injuries, reports Fox News.
It is not clear what type of plane the aircraft was or how many people were on board at the time of the crash.
Republican Congressman Steven Horsford Tweeted: “My team and I are saddened to hear reports of a plane crash near Nellis Air Force Base.
“As we closely monitor the situation and await further details from base authorities, my thoughts are with all those involved.”
