A pub in the historic city of York was forced to close its first floor after a “giant turd” lodged itself in the lavatory system.
The ale house, which started life as a Georgian property around the 18th Century, was immediately put on red alert after the discovery at its Lendal establishment.
The House Of Trembling Madness pub, which specialises in craft beer, apologised to its customers on Twitter and had a few words of advice for those capable of producing such monstrosities, reports YorkshireLive.
Writing on Twitter the pub said: “Sorry that the first floor at Lendal wasn’t open for a while tonight. No Self-isolating or Covid but just the largest turd blockage we’ve ever had. It has been removed and we are all clear. Eat your veg!
It was all taken in good humour with many people responding to the Tweet with their own puns, jokes and dirty comments.
One person wrote: “Glad you have finally dislodged the Log Ness Monster.”
“Brilliant,” a second person wrote alongside a laughing face emoji.
Another person added: “A different kind of Tweet!love the ‘eat your veg’!”

One user wrote: “This actually made me laugh out loud. Probably not that funny to whoever sorted it. Definitely deserve a pint.”
The pub took the time to reply to the tweet, and told the social media user that they were “drinking their pints” now.
Thankfully the pub was soon up and running, and with the pub spread over five floors the supping of fine beer was able to continue.
