Horror as vicious dog attack leaves girl, 18 with terrible injuries as she put bins out

An 18-year-old girl suffered horrific injuries after being mauled by a dog.

Georgia Wilson-Wheeler was putting the bin out for her mm when she noticed a mutt hanging around near their bins, GrimsbyLive reports.

After shooing the dog away, she knelt down to pick some rubbish off of the floor only for the dog to come back and attack her.

The dog, which Georgia’s family believe to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossed with a Pitbull, left her needing 25 stitches to reattach her lip after being set upon.

Georgia is now recovering and Humberside Police is investigating the incident, which happened on Thursday, March 11 at around 7.30pm.

Her mum Cheryl Wilson, 43, said: “When she went outside, she noticed that there was a dog sniffing around the bins, and she quickly shooed it away. But when she knelt down to pick up some rubbish off the floor, the dog lunged at her.

“Georgia ran into the house screaming and bleeding everywhere.

“Thankfully I’ve had first aid training so I remained calm and got her some towels to cover her wound to reduce the bleeding.

“It’s going to take a long time for her to fully recover. The stitches will dissolve within two to three weeks, it will take a few months to fully heal, but it will take up to six months before the scarring will go down.

“She’s unable to eat solid foods at the moment because of the injury, so she’s just on soup and porridge at the moment.

“It’s really affected her mentally as well, we have a staffy crossed with a boxer and she’s even hesitant to go near our dog.”

Cheryl thinks the dog responsible may be linked to other attacks in the area.

She said: “Speaking with the police, they’re looking into it being the same dog causing all the trouble in the area, as well as looking at CCVT on the shop nearby to see if they can get a good look at it.

“We have been trying to work out why it was rummaging in our bins and attacked her.”

She went on: “We were thinking it has been neglected and left out to fend for itself, the owner was nowhere to be seen. My partner thinks he’s seen it out and about in the nearby area.

“I’m mostly worried, now, about the number of children who walk to school in the area. My daughter is 18 and was very seriously injured – what would the same dog do to a young child or teenager?”

Humberside Police is appealing for information. A spokesperson said: “The dog was not in the company of its owner and is described as a Brown Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

“We are appealing for any witnesses to the incident and we are also asking for the owner of the dog to come forward to assist with our enquiries.”
