A mystery ‘explosion’ heard from various areas across Liverpool could be caused from a sonic boom.

The huge bang was heard by people in Merseyside heard shortly after 9.30am today, (Tuesday, March 9).

One Twitter user wrote: “Did anyone hear that massive explosion then in Bootle”, and another said: “Anyone hear that f*****g loud bang then or am I losing the plot?”

Residents say they heard the sound in Bootle, Aintree, Sefton and Clubmoore, which are around four miles apart.
