When one thinks of the Wagoneer, one usually thinks back to the time when mom and dad packed you and your siblings in the back and loaded up with camping equipment to head up to Algonquin Parks to spend a weekend under the stars.
Today, Jeep officially unveiled its new vision for this American icon, showcasing a set of vehicles sporting a new level of sophistication and luxury design both on the outside and on the inside.
Christian Meunier, Jeep Brand chief executive officer spoke to assembled automotive journalists about the new Wagoneers, telling them that when Jeep teased the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer back in September of last year, Jeep was going to do more than bring back a storied nameplate. “We were going to expand it into the premium world. When we shared our vision then of the Wagoneer brand, we said it would redefine American premium and we would deliver a unique customer experience.â€
It would not be just another Jeep brand, he continued. “Its very essence would be different. It would evolve into something totally new, a unique and very distinctive brand within the Jeep brand. Now, those plans are a reality.â€
The 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer zeros-in on the North American mainstream SUV market from the compact to full-size segments, with the Wagoneer planted in the growing large SUV segment and the Grand Wagoneer aimed squarely at the luxury premium segment.
Meunier said these new vehicles are for consumers who “lead life to the fullest and enjoy every bit of it. They don’t let trends, status symbols or even other’s expectations to define or limit them. They want to follow their own path, one that is unique.â€
To that end, Meunier said that the 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are made to stand out in a sea of plain SUVs and premium brands, instead bringing a unique sprit and flair all of their own.
Exterior details add to premium look
