Kate Middleton could stay up until midnight during an adorable birthday tradition for her kids.

Prince George will turn eight on Thursday, July 22, and the Duchess of Cambridge may have a special treat in mind.

Kate has previously discussed her love for baking when it comes to birthdays.

During an appearance on Mary Berry’s A Berry Royal Christmas in 2019, she said: “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”

Last October, she and Prince William baked decorated poppy cakes to raise money for the Royal British Legion.

On March 16, Kate’s kids treated her to a sponge cake after writing moving letters to “granny Diana”.

George’s godmother Julia Samuel also loves treating the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s kids on their birthdays.

The psychotherapist, who founded the Child Bereavement UK charity and was one of Princess Diana’s best friends, has remained close to William and Prince Harry since their mum’s tragic death.

She told the podcast in 2020: “I do to George what [Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making.”

She added: “William then has to spend days putting together.

“And then put all the machinery together, and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that.”

Watching William mess around with the toys “make me laugh, and it makes George laugh”.

Diana’s friend thinks the royal would have adored her grandson.

Julia continued: “He’s funny and feisty and cheeky, and God, [Diana] would have loved him so much.”

George’s birthday will come just days after Harry announced he will be releasing a memoir.

The Duke of Sussex has reportedly been working with Pulitzer-winning ghostwriter J. R. Moehringer on the memoir, with the book set to hit shelves by late 2022.

A first draft of the manuscript is now almost completely written before a deadline in October, according to Page Six.

Wiliam and Prince Charles are “particularly concerned about what Harry will reveal,” it is claimed.

A source told US Weekly: “They haven’t received a copy yet and don’t know what to expect. It’s making them nervous.”
