Meghan Markle ally claims Archie birth certificate ‘snub’ was ‘dictated by the Palace’

Meghan Markle’s decision to remove her real name from her son Archie Mountbatten Windsor’s birth certificate was at the request of Palace officials, a representative for the Sussexes has claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex was reported to have edited her son’s birth certificate a month after he was born to remove her real name “Rachel Meghan” from the document.

In its place, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex, remained, with The Sun reporting the move could be seen as a “snub to the Cambridges who have included Kate’s names on her children’s certificates.”

However, others reported that the change could have been a sweet nod to Harry’s late mother Princess Diana.

A spokesperson for Meghan denied the reports and said neither the Duchess nor Prince Harry, made a request to remove her name.

Instead, Meghan’s spokesperson said the change of name on Archie’s birth certificate was “dictated by the Palace,” which can be “confirmed by documents from senior Palace official”.

The statement read: “The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials.

“This was not requested by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex nor by The Duke of Sussex.”

Meghan and Harry’s representatives also slammed the publication for alleging a potential “calculated family snub” with the Cambridges, with whom the couple appear to now be in good terms with.

They added that “any suggestion” of Meghan wanting to be “nameless on her child’s birth certificate, or any other legal document, would be laughable were it not offensive,” to the couple.

A spokesperson said: “To see this UK tabloid and their carnival of so-called ‘experts’ choose to deceptively whip this into a calculated family ‘snub’ and suggest that she would oddly want to be nameless on her child’s birth certificate, or any other legal document, would be laughable were it not offensive.

“There’s a lot going on in the world; let’s focus on that rather than creating clickbait.”

Daily Star reported the name change as a possible nod to Prince Harry’s mum, Princess Diana who always used “Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales” instead of her birth given name.

Meghan and Harry reportedly kept a photograph of Princess Diana in Archie’s nursery as a homage to his grandmother’s memory.
