Prince Harry and Meghan Markle splashed out on gifts for Archie’s second birthday before he becomes a big brother, it has been reported.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex ensured their son’s big day on Thursday was one to remember with heavily pregnant Meghan due to go into labour in the summer.
The young royal was given new toys and clothes and a sweet note from his parents, according to reports.
“While Harry and Meghan are raising Archie to be grounded, they go the extra mile on his birthday,” a source tells Us Weekly.
“They made (his) card themselves and wrote a sweet poem inside, splashed out on gifts – including outdoor toys – and have bought him the cutest birthday outfit!”
The couple, who live in an £11million mansion in Montecito, California, after stepping down as working royals last year, is said to be keen to teach their toddler about the importance of charity and community.
“They want Archie to grow up understanding the importance of giving back,” the source added.
“Harry and Meghan feel so blessed to have such an articulate and caring child. Archie is learning to count already and keeps saying, ‘Two!’”
The Duke and Duchess also marked the occasion by sharing a photo of the birthday boy holding a cluster of balloons and encouraging donations for Covid vaccine equity on the Archewell Foundation website.
Meghan was also seen cradling her stomach at the appearance.
She said: “My husband and I are thrilled to soon be welcoming a daughter.
“It’s a feeling of joy we share with millions of other families around the world. When we think of her, we think of all the young women and girls around the globe who must be given the ability and the support to lead us forward.”
