The photographer who captured Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s pregnancy announcement snap has shared the story behind the iconic image.
Harry and Meghan made the heartwarming announcement on Valentine’s Day (Sunday) by sharing an intimate black and white photo of the royal couple.
Photographer Misan Harriman captured the moment as the former senior royals relaxed under a tree in Santa Barbara, California, where they have moved since stepping back from royal duties.
The picture was taken remotely from London amid the coronavirus pandemic by the Vogue contributing editor, who had observed the couple through the lens of his iPad.

Misan is known to be a close friend of Meghan, 39, and also attended the Royal Wedding in May 2018.
Speaking to Vogue, he shared a moving story about the image: “With the tree of life behind them and the garden representing fertility, life and moving forward, they didn’t need any direction, because they are, and always have been, waltzing through life together as absolute soulmates.”

The couple shared their news on the same day Princess Diana announced she was pregnant with Prince Harry 37 years ago.
On Sunday, fans went into meltdown after Harry and Meghan shared the news, following a miscarriage they revealed last year.
The announcement picture was taken candidly by Misan, who told Vogue the couple had been comfortably chatting, unaware of the moment.

He said: “When you see people who have the connection that they have, it’s like reading the pages of a book.”
Misan posted the image on Twitter and wrote: “Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!â€
It has been speculated the Duchess of Sussex is around five months pregnant, and will give birth this summer.
