Meghan Markle’s American princess image serves the Sussexes well as many in the US are “sympathetic” towards her and don’t see her actions as a “big deal,” a Royal expert told Daily Star.

Oprah Winfrey shocked the world when she revealed she had secured a sit-down interview with former senior Royals Meghan and Prince Harry.

A tell-all interview had been swirling in the rumour mill ever since the couple left the UK for North America, but nobody expected the pair to announce the chat weeks after the Queen confirmed their hiatus as permanent.

Clips published by CBS already show Harry to be critical of his roots, with Meghan stating she believes the Firm is “perpetuating falsehoods” about her.

In the UK, just 32% of Brits have a positive opinion of the Suits star, according to YouGov, but in the United States, public opinion is much more positive, Royal expert Brittani Barger told Daily Star.

Ms Barger, the deputy editor of Royal central, a U.S-based website dedicated to Royals, said she would even go as far as saying Meghan is seen as an “American princess.”

As a result, Americans are “more protective” over the Duchess and see her as “one of her own,” so are more “sympathetic” towards the Sussexes and their criticism of the British Royal Family.

Ms Barger claims that Meghan has an “American attitude and approach to things” that people in the States are “used to.”

Many things Meghan “has done aren’t as big a deal” to a U.S. audience as they are to Brits, she adds.

Overall the expert, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee, said she thinks the interview will “go down well” in the United States.

She told Daily Star: “Harry and Meghan are perceived more positively in the US.

“Many here see her as the ‘American princess’ so they are more protective over her as she’s one of their own.

“She has the American attitude and approach to things that we are used to so many things she has done aren’t as big a deal here as they are in the UK.
