Meghan’s birthday tradition for Archie that mum Doria Ragland taught her

Meghan Markle will snub Royal tradition in favour of her own birthday tradition for son Archie Mountbatten Windsor, who turns two today (May 6).

The Duchess of Sussex may have struggled with life within the Firm, but Meghan has celebrated traditions of her own for as long as she can remember.

One of which is practiced on birthdays and is something her mum, Doria Ragland, taught her, Meghan claimed on her now defunct lifestyle blog.

The Tig was a place where Meghan expressed her inner thoughts and once revealed that on birthdays the Duchess likes to set goals for herself.

She said a birthday is an individuals’s “own personal” New Year and is a time for growth.

Past goals included “more surprises, more opportunities to grow and more days filled with giggles and cheeky jokes,” adding that she always looks for “more inspiration.”

A year after writing the piece, Meghan found Prince Harry, and has certainly achieved these goals, as well as securing a Netflix deal, Spotify contract, and will soon add children’s author to the list.

Meghan will likely turn her attention to Archie, who has recently started nursery and will soon be a big brother.

As is tradition, the Duchess may look to teach Archie what she has learnt.

Archie’s birthday will be the first big day he has got to celebrate out in the open since being born.

Last year, it is understood Meghan, Harry and Archie had a low key birthday at their Montecito, California home due to Covid.

A Royal expert told Daily Star at the time Meghan may have even treated Archie to an LA-style party, complete with cake smash.

Brittani Barger told the Star: “It’s a big American tradition for the first birthday.

“The baby gets his or her own little cake that they can literally smash into.

“It’s an adorable moment, and families get a lot of cute photos.”
