Mum given £5,000 of scratchcards in parcel mix-up hands them back untouched

A mum was sent hundreds of scratchcards instead of the perfume she ordered in a parcel mix up worth £5,000 – and selflessly returned them.

Alice Lynn, 23, was sent a box full of £1, £2, £3 and even £5 scratchcards instead of two bottles of perfume she ordered online.

The mum was “worried” and didn’t know what to do with them so called National Lottery HQ who joked she should scratch them all.

Her mum also told Alice to “scratch them all” because she didn’t think “anyone would know” but Alice “worried” the postal worker who delivered them to her might lose his job for “something that wasn’t his fault.”

Alice told The Sun: “I’d ordered two bottles of perfumeonline. I opened the box and there were packets and packets of scratch cards, 14 in all.

“It came to more than 3,000 cards, some for £1, then £2, £3 and even £5.”

The mum soon realised that the box must have been destined for the Spar near her house and the package label “must have got stuck on the cards’ box.”

She said: “All I could think was my package label must have got stuck on the cards’ box which was meant for the Spar.

“My mum said, ‘Just scratch them I don’t think anyone will know’. Then, I asked my postman dad.

“I was worried if I didn’t return them the delivery driver might lose his job for something that wasn’t really his fault.

“I rang the Lottery and the woman said it might be a help if I took them to the shop. But then she shocked me by saying, if it was me I would have scratched the lot!”

Honest Alice finally decided to take them to the Spar where a man took them off of her, thanked her and told her he would thank the boss.

She said she’s glad she did the “ring thing” but added that “there’s a part of me that thinks I could have been a millionaire.”
