England kick off their Euro 2020 campaign on Sunday against Croatia, and the nerves of the nation are jangling in anticipation.
Three Lions’ fans are praying Gareth Southgate’s boys get off to a flying start, but the team is almost guaranteed three points if the prediction of some “mystic meerkats” is anything to go by.
The cheeky critters at Drayton Manor Theme Park’s zoo in Drayton Bassett, Staffordshire, seem convinced England will come out on top as most rushed to the St George’s Cross when given the opportunity.
Psychic animals with the ability to predict football results are all the rage nowadays after the success enjoyed by the legendary Paul the Octopus at the 2010 World Cup.

The sea-dwelling soothsayer made 12 correct predictions out of 14, giving him a healthy success rate of 85.7%.
Not to be outdone, the meerkats are getting back in on the action after a successful 2018 World Cup.
Chris Mitchell, head of zoo operations at Drayton Manor, said: “Our gang of mystic meerkats have certainly kept us on our toes in the past with their predictions on the World Cup, and even the sex of the royal baby!

“They’ve been hanging out in their brand new enclosure and always enjoy the enrichment that goes alongside making Euro predictions.
“We’re delighted to witness the meerkats predicting an England win in their first Euros game against Croatia this Sunday – a result the Drayton Manor team are all hoping for!”
Paul the Octopus shot to fame 11 years ago as he correctly predicted Spain would secure its maiden World Cup triumph.
Now bosses at Drayton Manor set up English and Croatian flags before releasing the meerkats into their enclosure.

After barely skipping a beat the majority of the animals headed to the England flag before the rest of their furry pals followed suit.
Not to be outdone, a pair of sea otters called Ola and Ozzy have got in on the act and predicted that the Three Lions will triumph in Sunday’s big match.
The animals from SEA LIFE Centre in Birmingham selected the red ball, which means their money is on England.

Spokeswoman Nat Emmerson said: “We wanted to showcase the amazing skills our furry friends naturally exhibit.
“We wait with baited breath to see if they share his prophetic skills and hope to see a victorious England this weekend.”
