Prince Charles and William ‘more united than ever’ over Royal Family’s future

Prince Charles and his son Prince William are now “more united than ever” following Prince Philip’s death, according to a royal expert.

The two are closely aligned in their vision for the future of the Royal Family, Katie Nicholl claimed.

Although the death of Philip earlier this month marked the “end of an era”, she said it would start a conversation that would “tiptoe around those big future issues”.

She told True Royalty TV’s show The Royal Beat they include “where the monarchy is going to go” and “that inevitable handing over of power”.

Ms Nicholl said Charles, 72, and William, 38, are “more united in their vision for the future of the monarchy than they ever have been”, the Independent reports.

She said: “The sources I speak to say that the notion of ‘sovereign’ is what has reunited them in the wake of Andrew and ‘Megxit’ – that they are stronger now than ever and more focused.”

But she said there is a “lot of work to do” when it comes to fixing issues in the family.

This includes those created by Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle’s explosive Oprah interview last month.

Charles is said to have set up a meeting with his sons, William and Harry, following the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral on April 17.

She said: “There are a lot of bridges that need to be built and trust that needs to be regained.

“It’s not going to happen in a quick walk around Windsor Castle.”

But she gave credit to Charles for instigating the meeting.

She said no one realises and appreciates more than him that a “divided” Royal Family is not the unified monarchy that people want to see.

The expert also said it is highly unlikely Prince Andrew will return to royal duties in the future.

He stepped down in 2019 following the scandal about his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
