Prince Harry used to speak with Prince Charles for “hours” before their famous rift, according to an unearthed Radio4 clip from 2017.

The Duke of Sussex interviewed his father for his stint as guest editor of Radio4’s Today show four years ago in which they spoke about battling climate change.

Harry is heard introducing his father as ‘pa’ and referencing how they could talk for hours on the issue, before confirming that they did regularly.

In the clip, he said: “We could talk about this for hours and hours, which we always do, but not with a microphone in front of us.

A clip from Harry three years ago reveals he would speak to his father for hours.

“I totally see it and I totally understand it because of all these years and conversations we’ve been having.

“I do end up picking your brains more now than I ever have done.”

Charles responded by calling his son “darling boy” and saying that it makes him “very proud” to know his son understand the climate issues.

However, this sweet bond between the pair has seemingly collapsed as they have been publicly feuding since the broadcast of the explosive Oprah interview.

Prince Harry has been publically feuding with the royal family since the Oprah interview in March.

Last week, Harry allegedly criticised Charles’s parenting and said he moved to California to “break the cycle” of pain for wife Meghan and their kids.

The Duke opened up about his feelings towards the royal family publically once again in a chat with US podcast host Dax Shepard.

He spoke about growing up as royal and mental health struggles.

The 36-year-old claimed his dad, 72, “suffered” due to his upbringing by the Queen and Philip, then “treated me the way he was treated”.

On the “Armchair Expert” podcast, he said: “When it comes to parenting, if I have experienced some form of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering perhaps my father or my parents suffered, I’m gonna make sure that I break that cycle so that I don’t pass it on, basically.

“There is a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on anyway.

“As parents we should be doing the most that we can to say, ‘You know what, that happened to me, I’m gonna make sure that’s not going to happen to you’.”
