Killer Rose West’s daughter believes that her mother may know what happened to missing Mary Bastholm and whether her body lies beneath the café at the centre of a recent dramatic police search.
However West’s daughter Mae fears her mother will take the answers to her grave and keep events behind Mary’s disappearance in 1968 a secret.
Mae, 49, hopes Mary’s family find closure and discover whether her father Fred West was responsible for her vanishing over five decades ago.
Questions surrounding Mary’s disappearance have resurfaced after police began examining a cafe basement in Gloucester where Mary worked and Fred West was hired to do building work.
Mae exclusively told the Sunday Mirror that Fred may have told Rose about what happened to Mary and how she was possibly his first victim.
Mae also revealed that she has not spoken to her mother in 12 years and lives with the daily “torture†of being born to Britain’s most evil parent.
Mae’s monstrous father is feared to have snatched and murdered schoolgirl Mary, 15, in 1968.
For the past week police have been excavating a café basement, half a mile from the Wests’ “House of Horrors†home at 25 Cromwell Street.
Mae told the Sunday Mirror: “I definitely want Mary’s family to have closure. It’s just so difficult that it all can’t be sorted out in one go. I would definitely want closure for her family.â€
Asked if she thought Rose would give information about Mary’s murder, Mae said: “She won’t. I think Mary’s murder was before her time but how do I know what they discussed?â€
A tent remains at the Southgate Street café in Gloucester, with officers searching for clues.
The café was where Mary worked as a waitress and Fred was a regular customer.
Mary went missing on January 6, 1968, while waiting at a bus stop on Gloucester’s Bristol Road on her way to see boyfriend Trevor Merrett.
She was clutching a Monopoly board game she planned to play.
Several of its pieces were found on snow-covered ground near the bus stop. A silver locket, which the family believes belonged to Mary, was found by police at the Wests’ home.
Fred is reported to have admitted killing Mary to his son Stephen. But in police interviews, he denied any guilt.
The latest twist in the West saga came after a TV team led by Sir Trevor McDonald uncovered potentially vital evidence. The crew – making a documentary for ITV – took a cadaver dog, trained to detect human remains, to The Clean Plate café.

The animal reportedly reacted positively at a spot in the basement. Radar is also said to have shown an image – apparently consistent with human remains – at the site of the old toilets.
The production company alerted Gloucestershire Police and the property was sealed off and place under 24-hour guard.
Family liaison officers are supporting surviving members of Mary’s family. Her parents and elder brothers have passed away.
A family spokesman said: “We are aware of the ongoing developments.â€
