A Texas high school teacher has admitted that he tortured and killed his four cats in order to “feel powerful” after he was bullied growing up.
Graham William Reid reportedly cruelly killed one of his cats by beating it to death with a metal workout bar but he was finally caught after a vet tipped off authorities.
The 29-year-old’s cats – Cabbage, Parsnip, Carrot and Broccoli – were treated abhorrently over a six-month period leading up to March this year, according to Fort Bend County court documents seen by KPRC2.
Reid admitted to local authorities that he carried out the acts because he was oppressed and bullied while growing up and would become angry with “various stressors in life”.
It is understood that the cats’ teeth were broken, their toes bloodied, tails cut, bones fractured and they suffered from respiratory issues.
According to court documents, he also disposed of one of his cats in the rubbish after beating it and a third cat reportedly scratched him so he slammed it with a scratching post.
The fourth pet, a kitten around four months old, was reportedly hammered with a litter tray scoop after it went to the toilet outside the litter box.
A vet finally alerted authorities after injuries on the cats, which were aged between 8 weeks and 1 year, didn’t add up.
Reid was arrested on April 28 and charged with four counts of cruelty to non-livestock animals by the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office.
Reid was a teacher of Geometry at Ridge Point High School in Fort Bend Independent School District.
Sherry Williams, a spokesperson for Fort Bend Independent School District confirmed Reid was no longer working for the district.

Williams said: “We have been made aware of a disturbing animal cruelty allegation against a teacher who is no longer employed with the District,’ Williams said in a statement.
“We are unable to comment further as the matter involves an ongoing criminal investigation.
“Please know the safety and security of our students is our top priority and we are taking steps to safeguard the emotional well-being of our students by making well-trained counsellors available to the teacher’s former students.”
