Teenage boy stabbed to death as cops launch murder investigation

Police in Northamptonshire have launched a murder investigation after a teenager was stabbed to death.

The victim, who was 16 years old, sadly died at the scene after he was knifed in Corby.

Officers were called to the emergency on Constable Road just before 7pm on Tuesday (May 25) after reports a boy had been stabbed. Paramedics also descended on the scene but were unable to save the teenager.

According to the Northamptonshire Telegraph the boy was killed on the Hazel Leys estate where a police cordon is in place this evening.

Police confirmed at around 1am on Wednesday (May 26) they have now arrested three people in connection with the incident and all three remain in police custody.

A witness told a local reporter: “There were police and ambulances all over the place. It’s so shocking. You don’t expect this to happen in Corby. It’s been years and years since a teenager was last killed here.”

A group of teenagers allegedly told a reporter at the scene that the victim was local to the area and had been stabbed in the chest.

There have been no arrests but police said the investigation is “progressing at pace”.

In a statement a spokesperson for Northants Police said: “A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a 16-year-old boy in Corby.

“Police officers were called just before 7pm this evening (Tuesday, May 25) to Constable Road to reports that a boy had been stabbed.

“Sadly, and despite the best efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene.

“Enquiries are progressing at pace and detectives investigating the incident are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to get in touch with them by calling 101 and quoting incident number 399 of 25/05/21.”

In a later released statement DCI Steve Watkins said: “This is a fast-moving investigation and anyone with any information is still asked to contact us.”
