There are fears of traffic mayhem during the Bank Holiday weekend as Brits flock to the coast and seasides to enjoy the 25C heat.
The sizzling temperatures are perfect barbecue weather, with Tesco expecting to sell 4million burgers for hungry Brits.
Tailbacks for those heading off to enjoy a long weekend staycation began yesterday, with queues on the M25.
The hot weather on the way is set to bring 25C on the cards, and 11million people are predicted to hit the roads to go on visits or breaks, the RAC says.
Drivers were stuck in 15-mile queues on the M25 near Heathrow yesterday and were crawling at a snail’s pace.

Major roads were clogged in Devon and Cornwall as holidaymakers headed for the sunshine and sand on the coast.
Many hoping to hit the roads before gridlock ended up in traffic as others had the same idea.
The Met Office forecast shows a steady climb in mercury before a peak at 25C across the South and South East on Monday.

And of the 70,000 B&Bs, hotels, and Air-BnB’s reopening after the new lockdown rules, they reported a surge in bookings.
As the scorching weather is set to be hotter than traditional British holiday destinations like Benidorm, there is no surprise families in the UK want to enjoy the glorious sunshine after a washout start of May.

It was believed it could become the wettest May on record due to the heavy rainfall being higher than average for this time of year.
It’s estimated 35million Brits will go out to eat, drink and shop over the long three-day weekend.
Barbecues are also expected to be up and running with Brits eating 4million burgers and chomping 1.5million sausages.

The supermarket expects to shift 250,000 veggie burgers and sausages and 5.5million beers and the same amount of bottles of wine as well.
Tesco meat buyer Natalie Linden said: “We anticipate selling three times more BBQ meat than last weekend.â€
But that’s not all, the boozers may also be rammed, as it’s believed drinkers will down 62million pints with 42million of them from pubs and 20m bought from shops for garden parties.

On a normal spring Bank Holiday pubs usually see around 63million but due to lockdown rules and social distancing, 2,000 boozers need to adjust for Covid measures.
The hot weather is set to continue for five days, with another scorching day on Thursday next week at 25C.
Monday is looking to be around the 22C mark, followed by a steady rise on Tuesday and Wednesday with clear skies and minor outbreaks of rain.
Those in northern England and Scotland are also set to see some sun, with most Brits enjoying a sunny week ahead.
