The wet and wild weather making this week a misery is set to continue with 60mph winds now forecast to hit Brits.
Torrential rain and hail have lashed parts of the UK and the Met Office forecast warns strong winds are predicted to add to the chaotic weather.
The weather agency said the UK will see heavy downpours through Wednesday and high winds tomorrow.
Further rain and stronger gales could lead to weather warnings being issued.
Craig Snell, Met Office meteorologist, said the heaviest rain on Tuesday fell in the south east with 16mm recorded over 12 hours in Goudhurst, Kent.

A deep band of unseasonable low pressure will bring more wet and windy weather over the next few days.
Coastal areas are likely to be swept with 60mph gusts on Thursday and Friday.
Mr Snell added the south western areas of England, as well as south Wales, will see the strongest winds.
However, inland could still see up to 50mph gales causing disruption on the roads.

He added: “We’re expecting in the South West and the south Wales coasts gusts reaching 60mph. Inland, potentially 40-50mph.
“This time of year, with the trees in full leaf, it could potentially bring some small branches down and because there’s a lot more outdoor furniture, we advise people that it is a bit vulnerable to strong winds and to tie it down.”

The heaviest rain will be in northern England, north Wales, Northern Ireland, and southern Scotland, he added, with up to 70mm of rainfall on the high ground in Wales.
Mr Snell said that while no weather warnings were currently in force, the Met Office will keep a close watch on conditions.
May could one of the wettest months ever recorded, surpassing the 1967 wettest May when 131.7mm of rain fell.

Although weather experts say it’s ‘too early’ to tell if it’ll break the previous record, this month has been “wetter than average” so far, with 70mm of rainfall predicted in the UK up to Monday.
Sunny spells aren’t close by just yet, although the last few days of the month are hopeful for brighter skies.
He added: “We have had a wetter than average May, we can safely say that.
“It’s certainly going to end up being quite a wet month.”
