William grins in first sighting after Harry’s bombshell claims of ‘nightmare’ royal life

Prince William was all smiles when he stepped out for his first royal duty hours after Prince Harry’s latest bombshell claims in his new Apple TV documentary.

The future King arrived in Scotland on Friday for the start of a seven-day trip and was visibly grinning with excitement as he met with the Scottish FA’s board and the Mental Health Advisory Panel.

If William was upset by Harry’s latest revelations he did not show it and instead focused on talking about mental health where he admitted “lockdown has tested everyone”.

Only hours before the Duke of Cambridge’s visit to Spartans Football Club’s Ainslie Park Stadium in Edinburgh Prince Harry’s new documentary, The Me You Can’t See, aired on television.

The docu-series, with Oprah Winfrey, which spans five episodes, looks at how mental health and trauma affect people from all walks of life.

Among Harry’s most explosive confessions and insights was his self described “nightmare time” between the ages of 28 until 32 and how his father, Prince Charles, had “left him to suffer”.

Prince William appeared to shrug off all stresses from the previous 24 hours as he met with staff and mental health representatives at the stadium.

“Young men are really susceptible to serious mental health issues and more likely to bottle it up and not talk about it,” William said.

“Lockdown has tested everyone in ways we didn’t think they would and taken away coping mechanisms to get through it, it’s quite difficult.”

Inside the clubhouse, the future King also took part in a video call with footballers Harry Kane, 27, David Marshall, 36, Jess Fishlock, 34, and Julie Nelson, 35.

Harry Kane said how he tries to personalise his chats with teammates so he can “dig deeper into each individual” to try to understand how they are really feeling.

William’s trip to Scotland comes after he was appointed Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland by the Queen.

This morning Oprah Winfrey appeared on Good Morning America to defend Harry and Meghan after criticisms made against them in recent months.

She said: “You know, I ask for privacy, and I’m talking all the time.

“So I think being able to have a life that you are not intruded upon by photographers, or people flying overhead, or invading your life, is what every person wants and deserves — to not to be intruded and invaded upon.

“That’s what people are missing. Privacy doesn’t mean silence.”
