Woman’s body found near Marriott Hotel as police scramble to scene

A woman has been found dead near a hotel.

The body was discovered close to the Marriott Hotel in York, North Yorkshire on Thursday morning.

Police said the discovery was made at 7.40am and her death is currently being treated as unexplained, YorkshireLive reports.

North Yorkshire Ambulance Service was also called to the scene at the Knavesmire in the city.

North Yorkshire Police said officers are at the scene working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

A big area has been cordoned off at the Knavesmire, with officers and paramedics at the scene.

Police cars and an ambulance are currently parked outside the hotel and officers can be seen conducting inquiries.

The woman’s identity has not been released.

A police spokesman said: “mergency Service are currently at the scene of an incident near the Marriott Hotel on Tadcaster Road in York.

“The body of a woman was discovered near the hotel on the Knavesmire at 7.40am today (6 May 2021)

“Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and officers at the scene are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Police enquiries are in the early stages and we will provide more information when we are able.”
